Northeastern University - Teaching Assistant
● Taught ME 2350. Statics course as a teaching assistant under Professor Kai-Wan Tak in spring 2023 and Fall 2023.
● This course introduces the vector representation of force and moment, the equivalent force systems, free body diagrams, and equilibrium equations.
● Discusses centroids and the center of gravity of rigid bodies. Examines applications to beams, trusses, pin-connected frames, and elementary concepts of friction.
● Emphasize the concepts of virtual work and potential energy and teach how to implement the theory of dry friction in machine elements.
● Taught ME 3475. Fluid Mechanics course as a teaching assistant under Professor Kai-Wan Tak and Associate Teaching Professor Mehdi Abedi in the summer of 2023.
● This course studies fundamental principles in fluid mechanics and hydrostatics(pressure distribution, forces on submerged surfaces, and buoyancy).
● Discusses Newton’s law of viscosity; dimensional analysis; integral forms of basic laws (conservation of mass, momentum, and energy); pipe flow analysis.
● Emphasize the concepts of differential formulation of basic laws, including Navier-Stokes equations and the concept of boundary layer and drag coefficient.
Responsibilities
● As a teaching assistant, I provide valuable support to the teacher by helping with lesson preparations, organizing classroom materials, and setting up the equipment needed for effective teaching.
● Worked closely with 65 students, both individually and in small groups, to provide additional support and guidance. I help students understand concepts, complete assignments, and reinforce learning objectives to ensure their academic progress.
● Played an active role in maintaining a positive and conducive learning environment. I implement classroom management strategies, reinforce discipline policies, and assist in addressing student behavior issues to create a respectful and focused atmosphere.
● Contributed to the assessment process by assisting in evaluating student work, grading assignments, and providing constructive feedback. I ensure that students receive timely and meaningful feedback to enhance their learning outcomes.
●Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I handle various administrative duties. These include maintaining accurate records, managing attendance records, and assisting in organizing and coordinating classroom activities or events.
